A café owner was found dead in her business premises, an inquest has heard.

Yasmin Sarah Jabari, who was 33, was found dead at Triple J’s café on Melrose Drive, Bishop Auckland on July 21.

An inquest to establish the circumstances surrounding her death was opened at County Hall in Durham on Wednesday by Senior Coroner Jeremy Chipperfield.

The court was told Ms Jabari, who was born in Hounslow, London, lived at Hummerbeck in West Auckland.

Four days after her death Dr Colin Saysell conducted a Post-Mortem Examination at Newcastle Freeman Hospital Mortuary and gave the cause of death as pressure on the neck caused by hanging.

Proceedings have adjourned pending further investigation.
