Residents gathered to take to enjoy good food and watch celebrity chefs put on a show at a popular County Durham food festival.

Attendees flocked to North Terrace for the Seaham Food Festival on Saturday and Sunday (August 3 and 4) as celebrity chefs such as ITV This Morning’s Phil Vickery and Rosemary Schrager took centre stage.

Those making their way through the festival could be seen taking in the atmosphere and enjoying treats such as pizza, burgers, gyros, and mac and cheese.

The event was well attended with parking hard to come by, while those attending sat on the grass to enjoy their food and enjoy the cooking showcase.

Speaking about the event on Saturday, Ms Schrager said: “It has been wonderful, and what a day to be here on, with the sun shining and so many people.

“It’s like the whole of Seaham has come out. It’s just brilliant, the atmosphere is wonderful, you’ve got the music going, and the people are fun, they’re great fun. My type of people.

“The Seaham Food Festival has been absolutely incredible.

“I would say come down without a doubt. It’s good fun.”

Mr Vickery said: “Last time I came it was really cold to be honest, came back today and it’s so warm and it is absolutely packed.

“I do a lot of these around the country, but I think Seaham is the most attended and the most friendly, definitely.

“It was great fun. You’re not tied by the studio, so you can have a laugh, have a bit of fun and engage with people, and they’re just nice people.”
