Two motorbike riders are being treated for serious injuries in hospital after crashing with a car.
Emergency crews rushed to Toll Bar Road in Sunderland’s south shortly after 1pm on Friday (August 2) where a car and motorcycle collided.
Two men on the two-wheeler were taken to hospital at the RVI in Newcastle having sustained serious injuries, police said.
Police, ambulance and fire crews were pictured working at the scene.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and is helping officers with their enquiries.
The road remains closed at this time.

An eyewitness said they were left "shaken" by the incident and hoped that all involved are okay.
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance service said: “We were called to a road traffic collision today (2 August) at 13:05 on Toll Bar Road, Grangetown in Sunderland. We dispatched two ambulance crews and one clinical team leader and two patients were taken to RVI hospital.”
