A man was taken to hospital with a head injury after a robber attacked him before stealing his wallet and mobile phone. 

The victim was walking near the Premier Store, on the junction of High Street and Normanby Road, in Normanby, when he was struck on the head.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing for information following a robbery in the Normanby area which left a man hospitalised.

"The incident occurred between 11.00pm on Tuesday 30th July and 1.00am on Wednesday 31st July near the Premier Store on the junction of the High Street and Normanby Road.

It was reported that a man walked alongside the victim and struck the victim to the head along Normanby Road, somewhere between Sycamore Crescent and The Avenue.

The suspect then stole £20 in cash, the victim’s wallet with his bank cards inside and an Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max. The victim was taken to hospital with a head injury.
