A pervert firefighter who made a 9-year-old girl have sex with truckers died less than halfway through his 18-year sentence.
John Brumpton, a retired Cleveland firefighter was jailed in 2015, after a history of serious sex assault, indecent assault, and indecency with a child came to light.
He had made a 9-year-old girl have sex with truckers in the toilets of Scotch Corner truck stop, near Darlington, telling her mother she was doing swimming lessons.
Now, a report from the Prison and Probation Ombudsman (PPO) has revealed details of his cancer death in HMP Holme House, in Stockton.
The report states Brumpton died from locally advanced urethral cancer on October 9, 2023.
A clinical reviewer from NHS England concluded that the medical care Brumpton received at HMP Holme House was of a "good standard" - and at least equivalent to that which he could have expected to receive in the community.
She added that healthcare staff adhered to the 'Dying Well in Custody Charter' to prepare for Brumpton’s death and to ensure his wishes were taken into account.
The clinical reviewer made recommendations not related to Brumpton’s death which the PPO said "the Head of Healthcare will want to address."
At Brumpton's 2015 trial at Teesside Crown Court, he denied the victim's story.
The prosecutor read out the victim’s impact statement, saying: “No child should be subjected to what I have endured.

“I have taken what happened to me into my adult life, especially after having children.”
At crown court, Judge Simon Bourne-Arton said: “It was for your own personal sexual gratification and also offering [the child] to others for their own sexual deprivations.
“I do find that others were involved and that you solicited others to take part in sexual encounters and made [the child] watch pornographic videos.”
