A brand new community bank is set to make a significant impact in the North East, as it hopes to support hundreds of residents and business customers.
Metro Bank is opening its new store in Team Valley Retail Park in Gateshead by June 2025 with building works set to commence shortly.
Currently operating 76 stores across the UK, the Gateshead location will be the first in the North East.
This store will combine traditional face-to-face banking with brand new technology, providing local residents and businesses with a customer-focused banking experience.
The new Metro branch aims to cater to a wide range of business from start-ups to established firms in various sectors, including hospitality venues and law firms.
Every local business choosing Metro Bank will benefit from a personal business manager to support them as well as a variety of funding options to support them.
Metro Bank is aiming to become the UK’s best community bank and specifically offers a community current account to support charities, clubs, and societies.

Renowned for its customer service, Metro Bank allows customers to open personal or business accounts on-the-spot and set up internet and mobile banking set-up.
Unique to every branch, customers can also bring along their dogs into the store, with water bowls, complimentary treats, and bandanas available for the furry visitors.
The new Metro Bank Gateshead store will be located at Unit 19 Team Valley Retail Park, Gateshead, NE11 0BD.
