Darlington is set for yet another a warm and sunny day ahead of a looming risk of thunderstorms later this week. 

The Met Office has predicted a dry day with sunny spells across the North East, with maximum temperatures expected to hit around 24 °C. 

Darlington specifically is set to bask in the warm sun for the most part of the day, with less than <5% of rain up expected up until 10pm. 

But the pleasant weather may not be around for too long - a yellow weather warning is currently in place from 1am on Thursday with "multiple heavy showers and thunderstorms" expected.

The Met Office said: "A dry day, feeling warm, perhaps fresher towards the coast with a see breeze developing. Sunny spells continuing, although sunshine perhaps rather hazy at times. Maximum temperature 24 °C."

Regarding this evening, the forecaster continued: "A dry start with hazy evening sunshine across the region. By the second half of the night, elevated heavy showers move north with a risk of thunder. Minimum temperature 14 °C."
