An animal welfare charity in Durham recently received a generous donation from a local housebuilder.
Stray Aid in Coxhoe serves as a haven for stray canines and felines across the North East.
The donation of £300 issued by Bellway Durham, developing new homes at Clarence Gate in Bowburn, will help Stray Aid in taking care of their vet bills.
Leyla Rutter, Chief Admin Officer at Stray Aid, shared details regarding the organisation's functioning and financial challenges.
She said: "Some of the animals that we take in have not been looked after properly with many in a very poor state of health and we have to spend money to get them well again.
"It costs about half a million pounds a year to run this charity and every penny counts.
"We are extremely grateful to Bellway for its generous donation and its support."

The charity, functioning since 2006, specialises in caring for abandoned, neglected dogs along with unwanted cats and is currently home to 35 dogs and eight cats.
Sales manager for Bellway Durham, Oliver Wray shared his sentiments by saying, "It is heartbreaking to hear about all these cats and dogs which are looking for a new, loving home.
"Many of them have been ill-treated or abandoned and it is great to know that Stray Aid is there, providing a safety net for these animals."
The charity operates fundraising shops located at Chester-le-Street, Seaham, Hartlepool, Blackhall, and Stanley.
