Witnesses to a mass brawl in Middlesbrough are urged to come forward after a man suffered a head injury in the early evening incident, on Saturday (July, 27).

Cleveland Police said the 43-year-old casualty suffered a head injury in an assault in the Brambles Farm area.

A report was received of an ongoing altercation involving a large group of people on Millbrook Avenue, shortly after 6pm.

The ambulance service took the man to hospital suffering from a head injury.

He is described as being in a “stable” condition and remained in hospital today (Sunday, July 28) while receiving further treatment.

Police said a man, aged 23, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and a 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing an affray.

A woman aged 57 was also arrested on suspicion of affray.

All three of those arrested remained in police custody on Sunday.
