Here are a few of the people who were sentenced at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ courts recently.

The eight offenders to be sentenced include drug drivers, drink drivers and shoplifters.

John Pawley, of Ryton Crescent, Seaham, County Durham, has pleaded guilty to driving whilst over the limit for cannabis, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance following his arrest on Framwellgate Peth on January 30 this year. The 37-year-old was made subject to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work attached. He was also banned from driving for three years.

Lee Cotton, of Gloucester Place, Peterlee, pleaded guilty to drink driving after he was stopped whilst driving along Buckingham Road, Peterlee, on July 13. The 50-year-old was banned from driving for 14 months and fined £467.

Dean McCamley, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in the University Hospital of North Durham on July 17. The 36-year-old was fined £120.

Lee Porter, of  John Street North, Meadowfield, County Durham, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage after he damaged a kitchen window and the gazebo on July 21. The 44-year-old jailed for eight weeks and made subject to a 12-month restraining order. He was also ordered to pay £250 in compensation to the victim.

Elizabeth Moody, of Lyndhurst Road, Chilton, Ferryhill, pleaded guilty to drink driving when she was arrested on July 2 near her home. The 25-year-old was banned from driving for 17 months and fined £120. She also admitted resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. She was ordered to pay £50 compensation and fined £100.

Kevin Coils, of  Angram Place, Newton Aycliffe, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, stealing groceries from Sainsbury's, stealing an electrical Tommy Tippee Steriliser and electric toothbrushes, to the value of £280 belonging to Boots, and  a further charge that he stole electrical toothbrushes and toiletries from the shop again on July 20. The 37-year-old was ordered to pay a total of £580 in compensation.

Adam Niles, of Grape Lane, Crook, pleaded guilty to driving with cannabis in his system following his arrest following an incident on the A690 at West View, Crook, on January 16. The 32-year-old also admitted failing to stop after an accident and driving without due care and attention. He was banned from driving for 20 months and fined £500.

Christopher Henderson, of Bourne Street, Peterlee, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without insurance or a licence following his arrest on July 23. The 39-year-old was banned from driving for six months and fined £120.
