The British Heart Foundation is set to close its Redcar store after 31 years.

The charity has confirmed that it will be closing the doors to its High Street store in a matter of weeks, with a final date set for September 14.

Bosses say the store is closing due to its lease coming to an end - and took time to thank its "wonderful staff and volunteers" for their work over the last few decades.

The British Heart Foundation has a number of charity shops across the region, including in Middlesbrough, Coulby Newham, Hartlepool, and Stockton.

A statement from the charity noted how people can still support online, via its eBay store, or by using its free collection service, which is still available.

Area Manager Martin Newton said: “After almost 31 years of business in the area, the lease on our Redcar shop is ending, and will sadly close on 14th September.

"We would like to give a huge thank you to our wonderful staff and volunteers for their continued support over the years.

"We’d also like to say a big thank you to our loyal and lovely customers in Redcar who have visited us over the decades.

"They can still support us and visit our nearby shops and stores in Middlesbrough or shop online on our eBay store.

"Our free collection service is still available too, so please consider donating to us if you can. We’re grateful for the ongoing support of our customers, who help fund lifesaving research.”
