Today we name seven people who failed to identify the drivers who were speeding in their cars in County Durham. 

The cases were heard in Peterlee Magistrates' Court in the last week. 

The registered owners of the vehicles were charged with speeding offences across the county. 

The speeding offences against them were withdrawn, but they were charged with failing to provide the identity of the driver at the time of the alleged offences. 

Danny Peel, 38 of Geneva Road, Darlington, was charged with exceeding 70 mph on the A1(M) at at Newton Aycliffe on 25 November 2023.

The offence was withdrawn. However he was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver / rider of a vehicle when required.

The case was proved and he was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £1,014 and he was disqualified from driving for six months due to repeat offending.

Benny Maddison, 35, of Carr Hill Road, Gateshead, was charged with exceeding the 30mph limit on South Terrace, Low Jobs Hill, Crook on 31 August 2023.

The offence was withdrawn but he was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver / rider of a vehicle when required.

The case was found proved and he was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £1,014. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months. 

Kirsty Brown, 44, of Hamsterley Gardens, Stanley, was charged with exceeding the 30mph speed limit on the A689 Peases Way Crook, on November 16, 2023. 

The offence was withdrawn, but she was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver / rider of a vehicle when required.

The case was found proven and she was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £1,014 and disqualified from driving for 12 months due to repeat offending.

Carl Andrew Renwick, 45, of Henley Gardens, Consett, was charged with exceeding 30 mph on South Terrace, Low Jobs Hill, Crook, on 24 November 2023.

The offence withdrawn but he was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver / rider of a vehicle when required.

The case was found proved and he was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £1,014 and disqualified from driving for six months. 

Lauren Elizabeth Bowes, 33, of Bow street, Bowburn, Durham, was charged with exceeding the 30mphi speed limit on the B1283 Sherburn West on 16 October 2023..

The offence was withdrawn, but she was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver / rider of a vehicle when required.

The case was found proved and she was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £1,034 and her licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

Craig Paynter, 40, of Coniston Crescent, Crook, was charged with exceeding the 50mph speed limit on the A167 Hermitage to Plawsworth road on 15 September 2023.

The offence was withdrawn and he was charged with fail to give information relating to the identification of the driver / rider of a vehicle when required.

The case was found proved and he was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £1,034 and his licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

Abel Andrei Costin, 28, of Wentworth Street, Middlesbrough, was charged with exceeding the  3omph speed limit on the C135, Wellfield Road, Wingate, on 13 November 2023.

The offence was withdrawn but he was charged with failing give information relating to the identification of the driver / rider of a vehicle when required.

The case was found proved and he was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £1,014 and was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
