Police are appealing for witnesses after two boys reportedly threw a rock through the windscreen of a car on the "mad mile" of the A66 near Lazenby.

The incident happened at about 2.50pm yesterday (Thurssday, July 25).

The mother and daughter travelling in the vehicle were thankfully unhurt in the incident when the car was damaged.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after two boys reportedly threw a rock through the windscreen of a car on the A66 (mad mile) towards Lazenby.

"The boys are described as aged 10-12 and both with fair hair. The first was large build, wearing a light blue T-shirt with dark shorts. The other is described as slim build wearing a dark blue T-shirt and dark shorts.

"Both boys made off, crossing the A174 towards Wilton Golf Club.
