A road has been closed by Durham Police this evening (Wednesday, July 24), with delays expected. 

Williamfield Way, between Burnhill Way and Greenfield Way, has been closed in Newton Aycliffe.

Update: this road how now been reopened.  

Currently, traffic control measures are in place, with police and partner agencies on the scene assisting with traffic.  

The road will remain shut until around 7.30pm tonight. 

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Residents are expected to experience some delays - thank you for your patience and cooperation."
