Wensleydale Railway has revealed its summer holiday events programme, boasting a range of "family-focused heritage activities" over the coming months.
Every Wednesday in August, Scruton and Leeming Bar stations will be hosting several historical activities for children.
The first event will be a Summer Trail on August 7, which will see people collect a free trail and activity booklet, explore Leeming Bar and Scruton stations, meet the railway’s Living History Interpreters and have an opportunity to learn about the past.
Further events will be a Scarecrow Spectacular, Teddy Bears Picnic and Make Do and Mend vintage arts and crafts activities on August 28.
All events will run from 11am to 3pm. There will be five shuttle trains operating between Leeming Bar and Scruton and tickets can be bought on the day at the Leeming Bar ticket office.
No event pre-booking is required but train tickets can be purchased online, in advance.
In addition to the planned heritage activities, the railway will be operating trains five days per week during August.
The railway is an all-weather attraction and there are free Explorer Passports and Activity Booklets to keep the young ones entertained. Collect all the stamps and complete the passport by visiting every station.
Complimentary guided tours of the restored Leeming Bar Station House are also available on train operating days.
The railway suggests that visitors arrive at Leeming Bar one hour before their planned train departure time, to enjoy the station building tour.
Subject to volunteer availability, the Leeming Bar buffet car and Bedale café will be open on train operating days throughout the summer, in addition to the Leyburn Tearoom and gift shop.

The railway also continues to offer visitors several travel savings. Children aged 3 to 15 travel for only £1 on the railway’s normal train services.
Residents receive a 25 per cent discount on scheduled train services and members of the railway’s registered charity, the Wensleydale Railway Association (Trust), receive a 50 per cent discount on travel. All these offers are available all year round!
Nick Keegan, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at Wensleydale Railway said: "We recognise that value for money is an important consideration when planning a day out. Our ticket prices remain at 2023 levels, and we continue to offer our popular kids-for-a-quid travel offer. This offer is available all year round, not just for summer."
