An anti-yob order has been slapped on central Redcar following reports of anti-social behaviour.

The dispersal order has been brought in across a huge section of the town, including Majuba Road and Coatham Green, the Esplanade, and High Street East.

It comes after a wave of bad behaviour - including from young people and adults in retail premises and cars being driven antisocially in the Majuba car park.

The order, which remains in place for 48 hours – the maximum length of time that legislation allows - means that those involved in antisocial behaviour in the designated area can be asked to leave the area immediately.

If they return to the location within 48 hours, they could be arrested. The order remains in place until 2.30pm on Wednesday,  July 24.
