Darlington Borough Council has given the green light to plans for a WeBuyAnyCar pod in a North Road supermarket car park.
The project will see the installation of the vehicle auction pod, which will be accompanied by space for up to ten vehicles in the north eastern corner of Morrisons car park.
WeBuyAnyCar.com purchases vehicles from members of the public, with the site acting as a holding point before their auction.
Typically, each vehicle will stay on site for no longer than 72 hours, with an average of between four to six cars present daily.
As part of the planning permission, restrictions have been put in place to limit the operation hours.

This includes a restriction to between 7am and 10pm on weekdays and Saturdays, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Working with local guidelines, the development is set to be carried out according to approved plans and must commence within three years.
Visually, the pod has been designed to 'minimise impact' on the existing appearance of the area while also fitting in with its commercially-focused surroundings.
The issues of accessibility and drainage have been addressed, with a ramp set to be installed for individuals with mobility problems.
In the lead up to the planning permission, no objections were received from the public or the council’s Highways Engineer and Darlington Association on Disability.
