A popular waterpark forced to close last year when its operators went bust will reopen this week.
Alpamare Waterpark in Scarborough will welcome swimmers and thrill-seekers again at 10am on Wednesday (July 24).
The attraction, which boasts four slides, a wave pool, a play pool, and outdoor swimming areas, has been closed since December when its previous operators went into administration.
Council chiefs began a search to find a new firm to run the site, which was built in 2016, and settled on a bid from Flamingo Land bosses.
The owners of the Yorkshire theme park got the keys for the Scarborough attraction earlier this year and have been working round the clock to get it ready for reopening.
Flamingo Land has a contract to run the site in the short-term, with the council saying “work to find a permanent solution on the future operation of the site will begin”.
Last month bosses applied for an alcohol licence to serve booze at the venue.
A period of consultation on the plans closed this week and the waterpark will learn whether it can sell alcohol in the coming weeks.
Flamingo Land CEO, Gordon Gibb, said: “This opening would not have been possible without a super-human effort from our team and fantastic support from North Yorkshire Council. Without the council team’s professionalism and commitment, this would not have been possible.

“We are now looking forward to welcoming visitors to this amazing attraction for Scarborough, which will be a huge boost for the resort’s summer season.”
Deputy leader of North Yorkshire Council Cllr Gareth Dadd added: “I am delighted that we have managed to get this attraction back open in time for the busy school holidays. It is a massive asset for the town and securing Flamingo Land as the operator is key to its success. It is great to be working with a well-established, local and trusted company.”
