Plans are under consideration to convert part of a shop and upstairs floors of a property along a busy Darlington road into an HMO.
The property, 74 Bondgate, is currently utilised as an electrical shop could become a House of Multiple Occupation (HMO) in the plans submitted to the council.
Darlington Borough Council first received the application in January of this year but they are still being considered by officials.
Drawings of the site show that current empty rooms and storage facilities will be converted into bedrooms and shared bathrooms as well as a shared kitchen.
Rather than opening to a shop, there would be a staircase going up, leading occupants to a shared kitchen and diner as well as access to the first en suite bedroom.
The front of the current store has been labelled to become an office.
The first floor, which is currently used as storage, will hold another two bedrooms - one with an ensuite and a communal bathroom.

On the second floor, there are plans for a fourth bedroom with an ensuite.
On the planning portal, consultee Christine Booth of Darlington Borough Council wrote: "Private Sector Housing have no objections to the proposed application.
"The property will not be subject to mandatory licensing under the Housing Act 2004, unless the occupancy exceeds four individuals."
