A group of friends are taking part in a charity challenge to help youngsters in the region who suffer from rare forms of cancer.
They are taking part in the Darlington 10k on August 4 to support Forever Eight, which was set up following the death of Amelia Davies in January 2021.
The much-loved youngster, who was eight years old, had been diagnosed with neuroblastoma and suffered complications during her treatment.
The charity set up by her family is helping to fund research into the condition and buys treat packs for children while they are in hospital.
Amelia’s grandmother, Heather Hill, from Darlington, “We saw how an activity or gift improved her mood whilst in hospital and wanted to share that with other children hospitalised with long-term illness.
“We will also be funding research into neuroblastoma.”
Those taking part in the run in her memory are: Anthony Jenkinson, Kieran Lamb, Luke Robson, Daral Milton, Neil Smith, Stewart Wright, Shanice Clark, Michelle Boshier and Danny Shaw.
