A man has been jailed for more than two years for attacking two people in separate incidents.
Jamie Johnson admitted causing a serious leg injury to a woman with a knife following an argument at an address in Sacriston in January.
The injury was so severe, that the victim needed surgery, but Johnson fled the scene, leaving the victim to call for an ambulance herself.
In another incident which happened in July 2022, the 37-year-old hit a man with a shovel as he walked down the street, resulting in a fractured elbow.
Johnson, of Sacriston, was charged with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm, which he admitted.
Appearing at Durham Crown Court on Tuesday, he was sentenced to 28 months in prison and issued with restraining orders, preventing him from contacting both victims for ten years.

PC Christopher Spence, of Durham Constabulary, said: “These incidents have had a life-changing impact on both victims.
“I am pleased we have been able to get justice for them and I hope the outcome today can help them close this chapter of their lives.
“We will not tolerate the use of weapons on the streets of County Durham and Darlington, and we will do everything we can to bring those responsible before the courts.”
