Durham Cathedral has been named one of the most popular free family-friendly attractions in the UK, according to a recent study.
Village Hotels analysed Tripadvisor reviews to compile a list of the UK's top free attractions based on the highest percentage of five-star reviews.
A spokesperson from Village Hotels added, "With the summer holidays coming up, many UK families will be looking to spend quality time together – and there are so many great places to explore up and down the UK.
"We wanted to share some of the UK’s best days out, that don’t cost an arm and a leg."
Topping the list was the Potter Trail in Edinburgh, leading with a high score of 93.91 per cent of five-star reviews.
Following closely was the Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford with a score of 80.68 per cent.
UNESCO world heritage site Durham Cathedral came in third with a total of 77.76 per cent of five-star reviews.
The Harry Potter filming location was described by one visitor as: "well worth the money and won’t break the bank for families wishing to visit on a budget.
"Like all cathedrals it is so full of history with delightful stained-glass window."
The Cathedral regularly hosts events on a small and large scale and features as a centre point of the Lumiere lights festival.
