An electric scooter rider has been left with a serious injury after a crossroads crash in Redcar.
The incident took place at the junction with Redcar Lane and Lord Street on Thursday after an electric scooter failed to stop at a red light as it reached the crossroads.
The scooter collided with a car that was travelling eastbound, causing the rider and pillion passenger to fall from the vehicle.
The passenger suffered minor injuries during the crash, which took place around 8.15pm. The current condition of the rider is not known.
Cleveland Police has since launched an investigation, asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who has CCTV or dash cam footage to come forward.

PC Mick Fearns said: “While we are currently conducting enquiries to further evidence what occurred, I am appealing to any drivers who were in the area and have not yet spoken to officers, to please get in touch.
“I would also encourage anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage to please contact us.”
