Plans to build 35 “luxury” homes in the North East have been given the green light as construction gets underway.

Collier Gardens on Philadelphia Lane near Houghton Le Spring will feature three and four-bedroom homes on the nearly 4-hectare site after the land was acquired earlier this year.

The buildings have been designed for first-time buyers as well as movers – but no completion date for the development has yet been revealed.

Technical Director, Dale Morris, said: “The Collier Gardens development showcases dwellings designed specifically to meet the needs of a modern family, by providing plenty of generous living spaces, with designs tailored to suit open-plan living and lifetime needs.

“The site boasts an excellent location for both first-time buyers and home movers, supported by a thriving community. The green light from the planning committee allows us to expand on our live sites across the North East after making good progress on multiple sites in Darlington and Durham in the early part of 2024.”

Detailed plans reveal the homes will be built with reconstituted stone and feature three sections of designated green space as well as front and rear gardens to create a “community feel”.

This is now the latest batch of houses to be built along Philadelphia Lane, as Persimmon’s Herrington Grange development continues to move forward across the road.

Plans have also been lodged to build an Aldi shopping store adjacent to the development of 3, 4, and 5-bedroomed homes which are still under construction.
