Plans to extend West Cemetery on Carmel Road, Darlington, have been approved by Darlington Borough Council.

Changes to an area of the burial ground will be made to adjust burial depths after plans submitted in early July 2024 were approved on Monday.

The decision represents an amendment to the original planning permission granted in 2022.

The redevelopment of the agricultural land into a new burial ground will be overseen by Mr Anthony Hewitt, Assistant Director – Highways & Capital Projects, Darlington Borough Council.
