A boy of 13 has been arrested after the suspected stabbing of a woman in Newton Aycliffe.
Emergency services were called to Kirkstone Place in the early hours of Saturday morning. (July 13).
The woman has been treated in hospital and the boy has been bailed pending further inquiries.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “Police are investigating an alleged assault which happened in Newton Aycliffe in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“A woman suffered a minor puncture wound during the incident, which is said to have happened in Kirkstone Place, and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers arrested a 13-year-old boy a short time later.
“He has been interviewed by officers and released on bail while further enquiries are carried out.”
