A child rapist was found dead at a Durham prison last week just days after being jailed.
Brian Jordan, now 60, raped a schoolgirl and indecently assaulted and had unlawful sex with another at an address in Newcastle when he has also a youth.
For years, his offending went undetected until one of the brave survivors spoke out against her abuser and reported him to police.
In March 2023, Jordan, of Croydon Road, Newcastle, was charged with five offences, including rape and indecent assault. Last month, he was jailed for seven years and seven months.
But just days later on July 3 he died at HMP Durham.
When he was sentenced the court was told Jordan had prostate cancer. His cause of death has not been confirmed and investigation is underway.
