A North East road will undergo a month of works to address damage to a traffic light caused by a crash.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have confirmed roadworks at the junction of Station Road and Coatham Road in Redcar began on Monday (July 8).
The council said this is due to a road traffic collision which saw the controller and signal furniture damaged beyond repair.
The works will last between three to four weeks and will see four-way temporary traffic lights and pedestrian crossing in place until their completion.
The council added existing traffic signal equipment will be removed and replaced, while several carriageway ducts will also be replaced – while footway works will also be undertaken.
A Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council spokesperson said: “We will be undertaking roadworks at the junction of Station Road and Coatham Road in Redcar starting today, Monday 8 July.
“The reason for the works is due to a road traffic collision which damaged the controller and signal furniture beyond repair.

“The works will take approximately three to four weeks and will involve the removal and replacement of existing traffic signal equipment, replacement of several carriageway ducts and footway works.
“A four-way temporary traffic signals and pedestrian crossing facilities will be put in place for the duration of the works.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
