Police have released a picture of a Darlington girl who died following an alleged murder on Friday (July 5) evening.
Durham Police were called to an address on Geneva Road in Darlington where Scarlett Vickers, 14, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Flowers have been laid at the scene as a tribute to the girl who lost her life despite the best efforts of paramedics attending the incident.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Two people have been charged following the death of a 14-year-old girl in Darlington.
"Police and paramedics were called to an address in Geneva Road shortly after 11pm on Friday, July 5.
"Sadly, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene."
Detective Superintendent Craig Rudd, Senior Investigating Officer, said: "This incident has resulted in the tragic death of a young girl, and our thoughts are with her family and friends.
"I would like to thank the local community for their patience and co-operation while investigative work is still being carried out at the scene, and to reassure residents that we believe this to be an isolated incident."

Simon Vickers, 48, and Sarah Hall, 44, of Geneva Road, Darlington, both appeared in court wearing prison-issued grey tracksuits and spoke only to confirm their address and date of birth.
District Judge Hood remanded the pair in custody to appear before Teesside Crown Court on August 5 for a plea and case management hearing.
District Judge Steven Hood heard how the teenager suffered a fatal single stab wound which resulted in her death.
