The headteacher of Haughton Academy has penned a heart warning tribute to Scarlett Vickers after the Darlington teenager died on Friday evening.
Su Gill, headteacher of Scarlett's school, has described her as a "lovely girl" who was always friendly and popular.
The staff and students of the school are extremely upset by the news of Scarlett's death.
She said: "Scarlett was a lovely girl with a great sense of humour. She was always immaculately turned out, respectful and polite.
"A very friendly girl, she was popular with her friends and will be greatly missed by the school community.
"The staff and students at Haughton Academy and the Education Village Academy Trust are extremely saddened by the news and would like to pass on our thoughts to everyone affected by this tragedy.
"The Trust is working hard to support pupils and staff through this very difficult time."
Before attending Haughton Academy, Scarlett had been a pupil at Heathfield Primary School, which is part of Lingfield Education Trust.
The trust’s Chief Executive, Nick Blackburn, said: “Scarlett was a valued member of our school community and we are all desperately sad to hear about this terrible tragedy.”
Simon Vickers and Sarah Hall made a short appearance in Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court after the 14-year-old Darlington teenager died on Friday night.
The teenager, who was named in the court papers as Scarlett Vickers, was pronounced dead at a property on Geneva Road in the town at about 11pm.

District Judge Steven Hood heard how the teenager suffered a fatal single stab wound which resulted in her death.
Vickers, 48, and 44-year-old Hall, of Geneva Road, Darlington, both appeared in court wearing prison-issued grey tracksuits and spoke only to confirm their address and date of birth.
District Judge Hood remanded the pair in custody to appear before Teesside Crown Court on August 5 for a plea and case management hearing.
