The countdown has begun for the official opening of Sephora at this North East shopping mall - here's when.

Makeup megabrand Sephora will open its brand new store in Gateshead's Metrocentre in early September, it has been confirmed.

The skincare, makeup, haircare and fragrance brand will also open a store in Eldon Square, a nearby shopping centre in Newcastle.

These will only be the fourth and fifth Sephora stores in England, two shops in London and one in Manchester.

Pictures of the new store show the recognisable black and white stripes with signage saying hello to the 'Angels of the North' - a homage to the region's iconic landmark.

Sarah Boyd, Managing Director of Sephora UK said: “Continuing our trend of listening to our customers and where they want to see us open, we heard the beauty community of the North East loud and clear.

“Metrocentre is one of the largest retail destinations across Europe, and joining the booming Shopping Centre is an exciting chapter in our continued expansion in the UK.

“We cannot wait to welcome all the passionate beauty lovers of the region to our store and create an iconic moment for retail in the North East."

Ben Cox, Director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE added: “Sephora is one of the most talked about retailers within the industry and its ambitious expansion plans across the UK have sparked a real excitement amongst consumers.

“Sephora will be a fantastic addition to Metrocentre, rounding off our unrivalled and compelling beauty line-up.”

It has not yet been confirmed where inside the Metrocentre the new store will be located.
