A County Durham shop worker has been congratulated after celebrating her 25th anniversary at Aldi.

Sharon Scott, deputy store manager at the North Durham Retail Park store, started working for the supermarket in 1999.

She worked at a variety of North East Aldi stores including Chester-le-Street and Washington, before moving back to the North Durham retail park last year.

Throughout her tenure at the company, Ms Scott has raised funds for the supermarket's dedicated charity, the Teenage Cancer Trust.

She said: "I have made so many friends during my time at Aldi - including both colleagues and customers alike!

"The team across the business are amazing, and it is so rewarding to work alongside such dedicated people who I continue to learn from every day."

Sandy Mitchell, Aldi UK's regional managing director, said: "With around 45,000 colleagues in the UK, it's fair to say that people are our biggest and most brilliant asset at Aldi.

"Sharon is no exception, and her commitment to Aldi's values is a testament to why we are loved by so many.
