The streets of Durham were filled with the sound of trumpets, trombones and tubas over the weekend as street bands entertained visitors with a series of free performances.

Durham Brass Festival kicked off on Friday with a week of spectacular performances, new commissions, free concerts, street bands and community activities across the whole of the county.

The programme of free and ticketed events will take place in major venues and open-air spaces all week.

Crowds packed into Durham at the weekend to enjoy the likes of Artistas Del Gremio, the Oompah Band the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band, the Heavy Beat Brass Band, Young Pilgrims and Easington Colliery Band. 

The festival, organised by Durham County Council, is set to conclude on Saturday, July 13.

From live music on the city streets to special concerts at different venues across different outdoor locations in County Durham, the festival promises a packed schedule for all attendees.
