A woman has died following an incident in Darlington overnight, police have confirmed.
Durham Police said two people had been arrested following the death of the woman at a property in Geneva Road, Darlington, last night (Friday, July 5).
Police remain at the scene of incident where a cordon has been in place since the attendance of multiple ambulance resources overnight.
Emergency services were called to Geneva Road, Darlington, at 10.45pm. Several police vehicles converged on the scene along with paramedic, doctor and ambulance personal.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene, but she died shortly after their arrival.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: “We were called to an address in Geneva Road, Darlington, shortly after 11pm yesterday (Friday, July 5).
“Paramedics also attended, but sadly a female died shortly after their arrival.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
“Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody while further enquiries are carried out.
“A police presence will remain in the area throughout the day.
“Officers would like to reassure the community that this is an isolated incident and thank them for their support and patience while they are in attendance at the address.”

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said, "We received a call at 22.46 on Friday, July 5 to an incident at a private address on Geneva Road in Darlington.
"We sent five resources in total including a doctor and a specialist paramedic. Police also attended the scene."
