There are some brilliant pubs across Darlington and County Durham, and we're never short of suggestions when we ask our readers.
Great beer, scenic beer gardens and colourful customers are some of the things all of our pubs have in common!
Today the Northern Echo launches it's 'Best Pub 2024' competition to celebrate the finest establishments in Darlington and County Durham. And we want you to help us decide.
The Northern Echo readers can now nominate their favourite pub in the region via our online voting platform which can be found here.
Online nominations will run between Monday, July 8, and Sunday, July 14, with the ten finalists being revealed on Monday, July 15. Readers will then be able vote for their ‘Best Pub 2024’ by picking up copies of The Northern Echo in the days to follow as we profile all the lucky finalists.
County Durham has a fine tradition of high-quality pubs that are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, some offering a fine selection of drinks and others providing good-quality food too.
Whether it's a lively city centre boozer or the more relaxing ambience of a countryside tavern, our district has something for all tastes.
And with the excitement of the Euros this month, pubs across the region have opened their doors to welcome the masses of football fans hoping to see England bring it home.
The Northern Echo editor Gavin Foster said: "The Best Pub competition is a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on the amazing pubs we have across our region.
It's no secret that many pubs have struggled in recent years, with challenges such as rising bills and the Covid-19 pandemic to contend with, so it's important now more than ever that we support the ones that remain.
That's why The Northern Echo is delighted to launch the search for the Best Pub. We can't wait to recognise and celebrate the fabulous offers of pubs in our cities, towns and villages across the region."
