Five County Durham residents have been in court for assaulting emergency services workers.
The five people, who all appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court, faced charges relating to the assaults, which all occurred in 2024.
All five of them were fined, with some given suspended jail terms and other conditions to follow.
Five County Durham people who assaulted emergency workers:
Michael Moore, 35, of Tees Crescent, Spennymoor, County Durham, pleaded guilty to common assault of an emergency worker on March 25, 2024.
He was ordered to pay a fine of £200, compensation of £150 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The offence occurred at Darlington where he assaulted PC 9521 Sanderson, a police officer.
The conviction date was June 28, 2024.
Demi Langham, 29, of Surrey Place, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, was convicted on May 10, 2024, for assault by beating an emergency worker on 10th November 2023 at Darlington.
She assaulted PC 9531 Ridley, a police officer, by beating her.
She was given a 12-month conditional discharge, and an uplift from 6-month discharge was applied because the offence was aggravated due to it being against an emergency worker.
No orders for costs were made.
John Tomas Evans, 37, of Parkside Crescent, Seaham, Durham, was convicted on April 8, 2024, for several offences.
He committed criminal damage to a Police Vehicle on April 6, 2024, at Peterlee and was ordered to pay compensation of £400.
He was also convicted of theft from a shop on October 17, 2023, at Peterlee, where he stole a TV valued at £329 from ASDA, for this he was ordered to pay compensation of £200.
He also committed another criminal damage offence on 6th APRIL 2024 at HORDEN where he damaged the rear passenger window of a police vehicle, he was ordered to pay another £200 for compensation.
He was also convicted for theft from Farmfoods, on February 9, 2024, where he stole 2 boxes of laundry cleaning products, for this he was ordered to pay a compensation of £300.
He was also convicted for assaulting PC 9699 Irving, a Police Constable on April 6, 2024, at Peterlee by beating him, for this he was ordered to pay compensation of £200.
He has been sentenced to 21 weeks imprisonment (suspended for 18 months) for all these offences due to his flagrant disregard for people and their property.
No orders for costs were made.
Glen Mafham, 29, of Estoril Road South in Darlington, was found guilty of assaulting an emergency worker, namely Police Constable 9392 Gibson on February 112, 2024, after indicating his guilty plea on May 3, 2024.
He was ordered to pay compensation of £50.00, with his guilty plea taken into account.
Mafham pleaded guilty to another similar offence on the same day, assaulting another emergency worker Police Constable 9195 Tiplady, and was sentenced to pay a fine of £200 and another £50 in compensation.
No other order for costs was made, and there were no charges due to his insufficient means to pay both compensations and victim surcharge.

He was ordered to pay immediately in full within 14 days under reserve terms.
Nicola Scott, 37 of Chester le Street, Durham, was accused of assaulting an emergency worker Police Constable 9402 Ellie Parker, and failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time on February 29 and April 16, 2024, respectively, but both offences were withdrawn.
Scott later pleaded guilty to assaulting PC Parker on February 29, 2024 and received a 12-month conditional discharge on May 10, 2024.
The defendant was not ordered to pay compensation as there was no injury.
Scott was however ordered to pay costs of £45.00 to the Crown Prosecution Service and £26.00 as a victim surcharge.
