The application is a relatively minor proposal which looks at a new external paint colour scheme for the grade II listed building, including repairs to the fascia to the ground floor shop unit, general repairs and a new stall riser if required.

The existing entrance door to the upper floor (8a) will be overhauled, painted and repaired including the existing fanlight detail.

According to a planning statement, in developing the proposals, the architects have sought to secure a design response that is of a high quality finish, which both respects the character and appearance of the existing grade II building and the historic architectural detailing found within the wider street scene.

The proposed works are largely repair to the existing shopfront, which - although a modern addition - is traditionally detailed.

Works involve general cleaning down and redecoration of existing finishes retaining historic features with the new decoration intended to enhance and respect that detailing.

The proposed colour way is part of a wider palette of colours envisaged by the artist lead design approach to the Darlington Yards project.

Whilst contemporary the overall character and appearance will be in keeping with the styling of the building and those projects already completed in Post House Wynd.

The works proposed are considered to respect the character appearance and significance the Grade II listed building and seeks to retain it in sound condition.
