A popular Yarm nightclub is now only set to open for special events as it focuses work on expanding its newly-launched cocktail bar.
The Keys, on Yarm High Street, has been a night out staple in the town for years with its “state-of-the-art” club - located upstairs - being a popular haunt for punters every weekend.
It’s also garnered a reputation for hosting big-name artists in recent years - attracting the likes of JLS star Marvin Humes and Take That member Howard Donald.
However, in recent weeks, visitors have noticed that the nightclub’s doors remained closed on weekends - and the lights to the club switched off.
Bosses have now confirmed that the main nightclub space will now be open for “special events” going forward as it continues work on its new Cabana Cocktail Lounge and Hideout.
The “tropical paradise” first launched in a section of the nightclub several months ago, with a Tiki-inspired drinks menu and stylish decor.
The hideout bar is now set to be expanded and refurbished, with works set to continue for the next two months before an exclusive launch party.
Meanwhile, the nightclub will soon unveil its new events schedule, having recently announced that Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp will be returning in December for his ‘Back to the 80s’ Christmas Special.
The long-established venue refurbished its nightclub just a few years ago following the Covid pandemic, introducing new VIP booths, seated areas, flooring, and LED screens.
In recent years the club has also been utilised for new and unique events, with bottomless brunches proving popular.
Cabana Cocktail Lounge will continue to be open while the revamp and extension for the bar gets underway, and is open every Saturday from 5pm until 2am and every Saturday from 2pm until 2am.
Refurb to allow more visitors into 'sophisticated' bar
A spokesperson for The Keys said: “The Keys nightclub is currently undergoing a partial refurbishment to expand the recently launched Cabana Cocktail Lounge.
“This will allow more visitors to experience the sophisticated ambience of this little piece of paradise on Yarm’s High Street and will take around two months to complete.
“The rest of the venue, including the current Cabana, is unaffected by this work. Watch this space for details of an exclusive Cabana launch party later in the summer!
