Travellers can expect a significant increase in journey time if they are trying to use Darlington Station this evening.
An earlier problem with the signalling system in Northallerton has caused a knock on delay affecting commuters trying to head home.
Services may be "delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or revised".
One eyewitness described how the platform in Darlington seems busier and staff are on hand helping people find their way to the right platforms.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "Trains are returning to normal following an earlier fault with the signalling system at Northallerton.
