Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has visited the North East today and is speaking to supporters ahead of the general election on July 4.
Drumming up support at what has been dubbed a "mass meeting" Nigel Farage is set to speak to voters at Rainton Arena in Houghton le Spring today (June 27) as he hopes to win their votes.
Pictures show Mr Farage greeting excited supporters as he walked into the arena earlier, stopping to take selfies with fans.
This visit to the region comes weeks after the Brexit campaigner announced he was taking leadership of the party on June 3.
The party will be hoping to win votes in the Houghton and Sunderland South constituency after they managed to win 6,165 votes in 2019 under The Brexit Party.
Just this week, Mr Farage admitted there is nothing stopping his party from winning “a couple of seats” in the General Election.
Mr Farage told a rally in Devon that Reform is “on the up” and while he expects Labour to win, his party was “live in second position”.
He said: “Many of these seats (in the West Country) will be decided in Devon and elsewhere by literally a couple of hundred votes either way and I think you’re gonna find we’re in the mix.
“There’s nothing to stop us winning a couple of these seats.
“But to do it, we’re going to need to maintain that momentum, we need to maintain that conversation.”
Here are a few pictures of Mr Farage at the rally this morning.
