A Darlington woman has admitted assaulting a man she hit with a mobile phone.
Gaynor Sheardown appeared before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on Tuesday (June 25) where she pleaded guilty to assaulting the man on March 31.
The prosecutor told the court Sheardown hit her victim in the eye with a mobile phone.
In a statement read by the prosecutor Sheardown’s victim said: “I feel stressed because of this whole incident and have been since it happened.”
The 34-year-old, of Swan Street in Darlington, has now pleaded guilty to two assaults by beating on the same night, and a charge of criminal damage. The court heard she had previously been before the court following violent incidents.
Mitigating, her barrister said his client “describes herself as a binge drinker” and suggested an alcohol assessment be carried out before she is sentenced.
District Judge Steven Hood agreed and adjourned the case to July 23, when she will be sentenced for all three crimes.

He extended her conditional bail until that hearing and warned her not to speak to any prosecution witnesses.
He told her: “You have now pleaded guilty to all three charges. You fall to be sentenced. I have not heard fully the mitigation with regards to this. I am adjourning for a pre-sentence report. A problem with alcohol needs to be explored.
“When you come before the court it is for matters of violence. You can not keep coming to the court in relation to these matters of violence.”
