A Greggs drive thru officially opened in Consett on Friday morning bringing the bakery chain's well-loved classics like sausage rolls, steak bakes, and yum yums direct to the town's cars.

The new Consett branch in Delves Lane has indoor and outdoor seating and will be open from 5.30am – 7pm daily.

Shop manager, Georgia McCloughin, said: "We can’t wait to welcome both Greggs fans and new customers to our brand-new shop.

"We’ve got an amazing range of iconic savouries, Fairtrade hot drinks, hot food and healthier choices available for takeaway, sit-in or Click + Collect."

The new store will also serve Greggs' 2024 summer menu.

This includes two new pasta pots - Piri Piri Chicken Pasta and Pesto and Mozzarella Pasta, and a roundup of previous menu items coming back with new recipes.

Takeaway, sit-in, or 'Click + Collect' options are offered through the Greggs App, allowing customers to get a free hot drink upon registration and a free sweet treat on their birthday.
