Officers have released images of four people they would like to trace as they investigate reports of an assault in Newcastle city centre.
Police received a report that the victim, a man in his 40s, was outside Livello on Lower Dean Street, when he was approached by four men at 9.30pm on Saturday, May 18.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "One of the men then punched the victim twice in the face, causing a cut to his right eye.
"He was then punched again, leaving him with serious injuries to his back and significant bruising and swelling to his ribs.
"A number of enquiries have been carried out by officers since first receiving the report.
"Today (Wednesday), officers have released images of four men they would like to identify.
"They were in the area at the time the assault is reported to have taken place and officers believe they may be able to assist with their enquiries."
The men, or anyone who knows who they are, should get in touch with Northumbria Police by sending a private message on social media, visiting the live chat on the Force website or by completing a crime update form.
If you’re unable to contact police in the this way, you can call 101 and quote the crime reference number 057616K/24.
