A Darlington barmaid’s bill for a night out has rocketed to £500 after she was fined for assaulting two police officers and being drunk in a public place.
Nineteen-year-old Georgia McAuslane admitted biting officer PC Patterson, and kicking her colleague PC Hart in the head after a night out on Saturday May 25.
The barmaid, who is in the process of moving from Selaby Lane in Darlington to Barnard Castle, admitted the charges when she appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on Tuesday (June 25).
The court was told police were called to a disturbance on a bus in Newton Aycliffe when an argument broke out between her boyfriend and other passengers. McAuslane missed her stop and police approached her about her drunken behaviour.
Prosecutor Ms Kemp said: “When being transferred to custody she has gone on to assault two officers.”
She said McAuslane bit PC 9503 Patterson on the right thigh, then attempted to bite her hand but was unsuccessful.
She then kicked PC 9697 Hart to the head, but the officer thankfully sustained no injuries.
Mitigating, barrister Mr Jandoo said McAuslane had “no recollection” of events due to drink.
He said: “This is a woman who clearly has had the worst for wear in drink.
“The defendant will say this is completely out of character.”
He added it was her first interaction with the police and that she had been left “very upset” by what she had done.
Sentencing her, Judge Steven Hood handed McAuslane a £499 fine, and placed her under an alcohol abstinence order for 60 days meaning she cannot drink.
The judge said: “It has been an extremely expensive night out.
“This is the first time that you have come before the court, please make sure it is the last time.
“Had you not appeared to the police on that occasion we would have been left to go on your way.

“The level of violence you then showed in the police station is appalling.
“Attempting to bite someone’s hand, someone’s thigh, kicking someone in the head is unacceptable whatever the reason. The fact you were drunk and can’t remember is not an explanation, it’s an aggravating factor which makes it worse.
“Fortunately there were no injuries, but you had no way of knowing that.”
