One person is in hospital after a crash closed Carmel Road in Darlington earlier today.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly after 11.45am on Sunday (June 23) morning.
One eyewitness told the Echo two cars were involved and police asked motorists to avoid the area.
Paramedics took one person to Darlington Memorial Hospital and the road reopened shortly after 2pm.
An ambulance service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Carmel Road South, Darlington, at 11.46am today (23 June).
"We dispatched a clinical team leader, who transported one patient to Darlington Memorial Hospital.”
Durham Police has been contacted for comment.
