Boy arrested after 'assault' at Hurworth School Darlington

Police were called to the secondary school during the lunch break on Friday (June 21) to reports of a pupil being assaulted.

Officers attended and a 13-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident.

He was interviewed and has since been released on police bail pending further investigation.

The victim suffered a head injury and was rushed to hospital by paramedics.

A spokesperson for Durham Police said: “Police were called at 1.15pm yesterday (June 21) following reports of an assault at a school in which a pupil had suffered a head injury.

“Officers attended and arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with the incident. He was interviewed by officers and has been released on bail while further enquiries are carried out.

“The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.”

The Northern Echo has contacted Hurworth School for comment.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident at Hurworth School, in Croft Road, at 12.50pm on Friday.

"We dispatched one ambulance crew, and transported one patient to hospital for further treatment."
