A disabled mum has hit out after she claims a council van crashed into her parked car before driving off.
Mum-of-one Michelle was visiting a friend on Ash Hill in Coulby Newham when the incident occurred. Michelle, who was not in the car at the time, heard a bang but didn’t realise her car had been hit until she arrived back at her home in Brambles Farm.
The 41-year-old returned to the spot and sought residents’ CCTV footage which she says shows the Middlesbrough Council van making a three-point turn into a space between Michelle’s car and two parked other vehicles.
The vehicle appears to stop momentarily after reportedly hitting the car before the driver then pulls away.
Photos of the visible damage to Michelle’s Peugeot 308 show scrapes to the side of it and a chip on the alloy. The council is now making insurance arrangements for her car to be repaired.
“The council have been in touch and they said it will go through the insurance,” said Michelle. “But that’s not the point. There was a bang when it hit but they just drove off. I didn’t even know until I got home and my neighbour said, ‘what’s that on your car?'”

Michelle claims the contact can be heard on the video and wonders how or why the driver did not stop to check.
Middlesbrough Council was contacted about the incident and a spokesman said: “The council can confirm an incident took place on June 11.
"The council had already been in contact with the car’s owner to make insurance arrangements, ahead of footage being forwarded to us.”
