It’s been two years since the price at the pumps soared across the nation - leaving some motorists paying as high as £2 a litre. 

Since then, petrol and diesel prices have thankfully come down, although The RAC recently warned that prices in Britain are “far higher than they should be.” 

This week, the average price of a litre of petrol at UK forecourts was listed at 146.3p. 

The RAC said this is “5p more expensive than it should be” given Northern Ireland is charging 141.1p for the same product. 

It's important to save the pennies and pounds wherever possible at the moment as the cost of living crisis continues to bite - so we’ve rounded up the cheapest stations across the region. 

Just this month, County Durham petrol station G.W.Holmes in Etherley Moor, Bishop Auckland, was labelled as “the best around” after undercutting the big-name supermarket brands by almost ten pence.
