Over the years we have all probably seen one of our favourite foodie spots close its doors for one last time.
Whether that’s your local pizza go-to or the café you regularly visit for breakfast, unfortunately, there are many reasons why businesses have to shut for good.
With this in mind, we asked The Northern Echo readers what restaurants they miss the most that have closed (and there was one place that had a unanimous vote).
It seems the majority of you miss Blue Lagoon the most as it dominated the comments section under our Facebook post.

Blue Lagoon is the most missed North East restaurant according to locals
One reader shared: “Blue lagoon Grange Road darlington owned by brothers Peter and Chris, missed restaurant and them so much.”
Another added: “The Blue lagoon, went with my lovely sister, sadly no longer with us.”
The much-loved Mediterranean restaurant in Darlington closed in 2017, after owners Chris and Peter Kattou announced their retirement - the long-time owners took over from their late father Andreas in 1987.
The Blue Lagoon was in business for 56 years after first opening in 1961 and is thought to be among the town's oldest restaurants.
It was widely known for specialising in Greek cuisine, with visitors often complimenting various tasty dishes such as creamed cabbage, moussaka and homemade chips.
Posting on Facebook in 2017, Chris and Peter told their customers: “What can we say apart from thanks to everyone who has dined with us, worked with us, supported us and drank until the early hours with us.
