A popular cookware retailer is set to open a new store at the Metrocentre. 

Pro Cook - the UK’s leading direct-to-consumer specialist kitchenware brand - will be launching a new store it the Lower Green Mall. 

The chain, which currently has stores at Teesside Park, Dalton Park, and in Harrogate and York, is stated as “coming soon” on the shopping centre’s website. 

The 2,293 sq ft store will be located between WHSmith and Vodafone, and opposite the likes of Hotel Chocolat and Holland & Barrett.

It will also feature Pro Cook's entire range, including cookware, knives, tableware and small kitchen appliances.

The news comes just weeks after several big name brands confirmed they would also be opening up new locations at the shopping centre. 

These include escape room The Escapologist, fast food spot German Doner Kebab, global beauty brand Sephora, and fashion retailer Mango.

While an opening date has yet to be confirmed, The Northern Echo understands that the chain will be opening in early Autumn. 

Retail Director Andy Kerr said: "Opening a Pro Cook store in Gateshead is a massive milestone for us.

“We have a strong online customer base in the North East and now we are able to offer a great in-person experience through our expert, friendly team - we can't wait to meet and hear from local foodies in and around Gateshead."
